I'm getting seriously hacked off, first of all I can't run 1.3 with Zone Alarm running (see ).

Now I try to join the match tonight through GameSpy - Half Life runs, connects to the server, then I get the following:
Changed to game cstrike
Couldn't find map....., server will download the map
your .dll [cl_dllsclient.dll] differs from the servers
host_error: disconnected.

I'm running Counter Strike retail patched to 1.3 (retail patch) and Half Life patched to 1.8.

Am I being a complete knob, what am I doing wrong!

What map were we on at time?

I've heard there's been some problems with the retail patch not extracting Inferno properly, and maybe it affects others.

There's definately something screwy going on, I uninstalled Half Life and tried to join you but when it tried to launch the game it wouldn't run because it couldn't find the halflife.exe file.

As I said over on The DVD Forums i'm pretty sure it's the retail version because I got it with the Half Life Generation bundle and it worked ok when I upgraded to 1.0.0.2!

Think I might uninstall everything and start from scratch.

Okay i've had enough of this retail malarky and i'm currently downloading the mod version (i think) from ).

It's 85.25mb, can someone have a look and make sure it's what I need.

If you are using the link on the right hand side of the page you are downloading 1.1 - not 1.3. IIRC the 1.3 Full install weighs in at 100Mb or thereabouts.

Edit: (if I'm correct) is what you need to get Counter-Strike 1.3 with only Half-Life installed. The Half-life 1.1.0.8 patch will still need to be applied.

So in answer to my original question, yes I was being a complete knob .

I though you had to download the original patch then upgrade that to 1.3.

I'm downloading now - 5mb down 95 to go

Thanks everybody i'm now running the mod version quite happily. The problem with my PC locking was ZA not asking for permission - I've ticked the boxes which has cured it.
