Are ppl posting this in their ICQ away msgs or not? This is the first of this server I've noticed after being away from the net for about a week.

I have decided to try and have a CS dedicated server available for the -=DVF=- team, and friends.

I am new to this server thing but we had a couple of games now and it seems ok.
People have complained about it being a bit laggy, but there is nothing I can do about that but limit the number of players to 10.

I think the main problem with the server is that because people first join in and see that there is no one on the server they just quit out (understandably) instead of waiting for other players to join.
I am really tight for time l8ely but don't mind starting the server for others to play on. And usually I join in when I get the chance.
If we can 'schedule' a time for when to start the server, then maybe people will hang on for a bit when joining.

I appreciate any ideas that you might have as I have said in previous posts.

Im sure that when I get some spare time, ill improve the server and d/l some new maps.

generally, the two servers which i will be switching in between are:

62.49.205.147 (Athlon 1 gig, GF2, 256meg, ADSL)
62.49.205.148 (K6-3 450, TNT2Ultra, 384meg, ADSL)

from now on, if its ok with dogbox, ill post the addy here in advance (when possible)

I've always left the IP address in ICQ when I've been playing there.

I was gonna try it out last night, but BT started playing up and everything ground to a halt

(BTW That's what happened <b>Jamie</b>. I could, see your messages and others in ICQ, but when I tried to reply to them nothing happened, so after a while I gave up.)

<b>ShyBoy</b>, I suggest that you leave the server wide open to the wide world but password it so that if we (the DVF/SMB posse) start to come in, we can boot people off to make way for us.

Gave <b>jamie</b> the same URL a while back... there is some info there on how to do this.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHEN THIS SERVER GOES UP AS I DONT SEEM TO BE ABLE TO FIND IT. ALSO, SHOULDN'T THERE BE A PORT NUMBER AFTER THOSE IP ADDRESSES?

Default port number 27015
It usually goes up at approx 8:00 at night (unless im out)

and there is no need to shout.
when its up ill post an away message on my icq.

I still have yet to be online when it is switched on

Is it not an Always On server ?
