AFAIK 1.2 doesn't actually do anything to CS, just Half-Life online or something. 1.3 is the real update, and should be out in a few weeks (voice communication, bug fixes, new maps etc.).

I think it may be necessary for Mod users to update to 1.0.1.7 though. Seems a bit of a waste of time though, when you're gonna have to update again when .8 comes out.

I must admit I found my CS ran faster under XP using the new 1.2 patch. However in Win2k it seems about the same speed.
