I had a similar problem with my GF2GTS, I purchased a GF2MX over xmas to see if it was the gfx card, and indeed it did look like it was, so I plunged for an ATI Radeon 8500. I was going to sell the card (gf2MX) to bro in law, but guess what..... it crashed in his machine!!...

So my theory is it is a combination of mobo and gfx card that is causing all the problems. The ATI card has crashed once in all the time I have been playing it... however I play will all settings max'ed out and still get 99fps!

Cheers for that - there's some hints in there that changing the driving control on the AGP port will help, and I've also read elsewhere that older Nvidia drivers may be better, so I'll give that a go.
(Can't afford a new graphics card - I'm getting another mouth to feed in two weeks ).

In the mean time, expect me to appear in matches for 2 minutes, and the start doing one of those funky juddering dances at spawn!

As another alternative, I found my GF2 to be more stable in D3D than OGL, it only crashed every 45 mins or so then

Yeah - it runs fine in D3D with no crashes at all - the only trouble is that it only gives me 25-35 FPS even on uncomplicated maps (I don't think I can stand playing at a rez lower than 1024, and it really annoys me to know that OpenGL runs much faster).

I have a suspicion that this accounts for my low kill ratio (I've only been playing for a couple of months or so and never really paid attention to the fps until now - I just pushed the rez as high as it would go - 1100 +).
