DVF Counterstrike Server Statistics - January Report
The server has been running for almost two months now, so it's time to have a look at the statistics generated (available in full ) and hand out various awards for achievement on the Counterstrike playing field! No prizes will be given, but this month's top players will get a nice warm feeling inside I'm sure.
There are twenty-six awards in all, the most prestigious being the Player Of The Month award, which goes to the Counterstriker who is standing tall at the top of the pile at the end of the month - in the top spot on the Jolt stats. But that's not to say the rest of us can't be praised too - Counterstrike is a team game of course, and objectives can only be completed as a team.
This being the first monthly report, we have the slight problem of not knowing exactly what period of time the stats cover. The skill points and totals of kills and the like all date back to when the stats went live almost two months ago. But the more specific statistics (such as bomb plants and weapon usage) probably only go back to the beginning of January. But lets not worry about that.
So without further ado, on to the awards!
First, lets look at what weapons we choose as our sticks of death and glory, and who spearheads their usage.
WEAPONS OF CHOICE
1) M4A1 - 4290 kills - -=DVF=-JaHaD (322 kills)
2) MP5 - 4107 kills - -=DVF=-[]DAU[]_ (345 kills)
3) AK47 - 2293 kills - Warm.Dragon.Pish (249 kills), -=DVF=-t@xman (131)
Not unsurprisingly perhaps, there are three clear winners. At the top of the pile is the M4A1 Colt Carbine. Not a hard weapon to get the hang of, and good for multiple frags, it still takes careful handling and a sharp aim. With 4290 kills to its name this month, the Colt is our favourite gun.
Who uses the Colt the most? -=DVF=-JaHaD scored a whopping 322 kills with it.
The MP5 follows closely behind, with 4107 kills. Just point and hold down the trigger - sounds simple, but when you have to get a lot of bullets into your enemy to make him sit back down, it takes a brave Counterstriker to get to the top of the pile with the MP5.
Who is the MP5 master? -=DVF=-[]DAU[]_ with 345 kills!
In third place is the AK47, with a comparatively small 2293 kills. Not an easy gun to use, the AK requires patience and a perfect aim.
As we like to recognise non-DVF players as well as our own members, two people take away the AK47 award. Warm.Dragon.Pish scored a very impressive 249 kills with the gun, and -=DVF=-t@xman is the highest DVF AK user with 131 kills.
TOP KNIFER
-=DVF=-Sputnik
61 kills
The knife is a lethal weapon if you can get close enough, and the only weapon available on knife-only maps. This month's top slasher is -=DVF=-Sputnik, who got 61 kills with his pointed sticks.
TOP GRENADE LOBBER
-=DVF=-[]DAU[]_
65 kills
Grenades can be hurled considerable distances, round corners and into the laps of unsuspecting campers, blowing people into little pieces. They are also the primary weapon available on the infamous he_tennis maps, in which we hurl grenades about manically. Our top grenade lobber is -=DVF=-[]DAU[]_, who made 65 kills with the things.
FASTEST ON THE DRAW
-=DVF=-Sputnik
129 kills
Pistols are underrated weapons - their solid stopping power and easy handling are often ignored because of their semi-automatic nature. But many of us do realise the benefits of carrying a good sidearm though, and this month's Fastest On The Draw award goes to -=DVF=-Sputnik, who dropped 129 bandits at ten paces.
BEST SNIPER
Warm.Dragon.Pish
71 kills
[D.V.F] jamie
42 kills
Sniper rifles are hard to master, what with their slow reload and near-impotence at very short ranges. Warm.Dragon.Pish made 71 sniper rifle kills this month, and Jamie is the DVF representative in this category with 42 long range frags.
The next category of awards covers the maps. Skilfully created by the Counterstrike team and amateur mappers, we'd be nowhere without realistic and balanced maps to throw each other around on.
MOST BLOODTHIRSTY MAPS
1) cs_office - 1371 kills - Warm.Dragon.Pish (99 kils), -=DVF=-JaHaD (77 kills)
2) de_dust - 1222 - -=DVF=-JaHaD (83 kills)
At the top is the fast-fragging hostage rescue map cs_office, on which we scored 1371 kills this month. Warm.Dragon.Pish and -=DVF=-JaHaD are our top whitecollar workers, with 99 and 77 kills respectively.
Our second favourite map is good old de_dust, a classic and perhaps the most played Counterstrike map ever made. -=DVF=-JaHaD picks up another award, for taking 83 lives on this small and thunderous map.
MOST BLOOD-STAINED CUSTOM MAP
ka_fightclub - 347 kills - -=DVF=-Sputnik (39 kills)
Custom maps offer some variation of the usual playing fields, a refreshing change and often a completely different type of game. Our favourite custom map this month was ka_fightclub with 347 kills. A tiny knives-only arena based on the film Fight Club, this map demands quick reflexes and some wild stabbing and slashing. This month's Fight Club winner is -=DVF=-Sputnik, with 39 butcherings to his name.
MOST VICIOUS RODENT
[D.V.F] jamie
46 kills
We've only recently started looking at "rats" and "mice" maps, in which we battle across gigantic environments in domestic settings, as if we were little animals. This month's most vicious rodent was [D.V.F] jamie - with 46 nibbles he's the most violent mouse on the DVF server.
PLAYER AWARDS
Next up are the awards given to our best (and worst) players for more general categories.
MOST VIOLENT
-=DVF=-JaHaD
5379 kills
Our most violent player since the server began is -=DVF=-JaHaD. Fragging a massive 5379 innocent bystanders, he's standing proud at the top of the Kills list. Get too close to this fella and you wont get away unscarred.
MOST DEATHS
-=DVF=- DaTinfoil
3328 deaths
We wouldn't want to leave out an award for the player who most enjoys finding himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, would we? While an embarassing award to some, this shows that you're willing to get in there when all others would shy away. The title goes to -=DVF=- DaTinfoil, who has expended 3328 of his own lives in the two months. Don't forget that this is mostly due to his ping problems, that have more often than not landed him in the middle of a firefight, the results of which he finds out a few seconds later.
HIGHEST KILL : DEATH RATIO
-=DVF=-t@xman
2.16 : 1
This wasn't a simple award to allocate, as it's easy to score high in this category without actually playing the game very much. Thus, the title goes to -=DVF=-t@xman, who killed an average of 2.16 people for each death of his own. This probably has something to do with his tried and tested tactics of staying well back from the action with a rifle and a cuppa.
MOST SUICIDAL (top 30 players only)
[D.V.F] jamie

It's inevitable - every so often a grenade will play boomerangs or a window ledge will suddenly rise in height, and thus we've all had a few unfortunate self-inflicted fatalities. But the clear winner in this category is [D.V.F] jamie, with 117 suicides. How he manages it I have no idea, but well done Jamie, the "most suicidal" award is yours.
MOST TEAM KILLS (top 30 players only)

Whoops! Most of us know the feeling - we're so wound up in the excitment of dispatching more than our fair share of bad guys that our trigger finger gets jammed and our aim goes a little off. Killing teammates is not a good thing, but the award for making this habit a hobby goes to [LotR][Virus] with an impressive 11 teammate kills this month.
Of course Counterstrike is not all about killing, there are objectives to complete as well. Some of us are pretty good at this side of the game it seems.
BUSIEST HOSSIE RESCUERS (top 30 players only)
-=DVF=-[]DAU[]_ (24)
-=DVF=-Machiavelli (23)
While the rest of us are running around mashing each other up, these lads are busying about trying to save the lives of hostages (the $1000 reward the last thing on their minds). -=DVF=-[]DAU[]_ and -=DVF=-Machiavelli saved 24 and 23 innocent lives respectively this month.
NASTIEST HOSTAGE SLAYER (top 30 players only)
[LotR][Virus]
9 hossie kills
Not everyone likes to save the hostages, some of us like to shoot them. [LotR][Virus] killed 9 this month, but I daren't ask him whether they were accidents or not.
BOMB DISPOSAL EXPERT (top 30 players only)
-=DVF=-JaHaD
18 bombs defused
When you find a lump of C4 under your desk, this is the man to call. -=DVF=-JaHaD defused 18 bombs during January, bravely crouching inches away from certain death with nothing but bare hands and the odd defusing kit. Thankfully, there's no record of how many bombs the counter terrorists failed to defuse in time.
TOP EXPLOSIVES RIGGER (top 30 players only)
-=DVF=-JaHaD
39 bombs planted
Ah. When not defusing bombs, -=DVF=-JaHaD has a nasty habit of planting the things. Indeed he laid 39 this month. But planting bombs is not as easy as it sounds - you have to be willing to sit defenceless for a few seconds.
NUMBER ONE ASSASSIN (top 30 players only)
-=DVF=-Sputnik
32 VIPs shot
It's the counter terrorists' job to escort VIPs to the safety of a waiting helicopter. Occasionally they fail miserably, leaving this month's number one assassin -=DVF=-Sputnik to give them a good seeing to. Sput has assassinated 32 political figures in the last month.
And now its time for the big awards - who has managed to slip into the top ten? Who are DVF's best players (according to the stats anyway!)?
PLAYER OF THE MONTH
-=DVF=-Sputnik
Skill: 3252
To get to the top you have to play a lot of Counterstrike and kill a lot of people. Dodging bullets also comes in handy, and completing the mission objectives gives bonus points. -=DVF=-Sputnik ended the month at the top of the stats for the DVF server, with a skill rating of 3252. A respectful mention to -=DVF=-t@xman though, who was at the top until the last couple of days, and now has a skill rating of 3217.

We should also give an honourable mention to the [UsualexcuseS] clan, who take the Best Clan award. With a skill rating of 2078 they just beat DVF's 2053. Thumbs up to them, and we hope you continue to enjoy playing on our server. Just let us win next month please ;)
And so we've come to the end of the DVF January Server Stats Report, and the end of our first two months of Jolt-powered CounterStriking.
Congratulations to all those who won an award (no prizes remember!), and thanks to all who play on the server. It's a shame that so many great players have been left out. But we all contributed to the ninety thousand plus total frags made on the server so far! DVF members alone count for a total of thirty seven thousand.
