I don't understand why PB checks for this.
On my completely fresh install of CS, everything at default, it's set to on - so I get warnings from PB servers.
You're not getting an advantage over any other players, because they'll probably have it set to on as well.
Seems a bit daft to me.

Mine's set to 0 by default, and maps aren't too dark by me, so I could probably gain an adavntage in some places by turning this on - but I prefer there to be dark spots as that's part of the game.

I guess it depends on your graphics card, monitor etc. whether this setting is needed so it is stupid that PB checks this.

I tend to think PB servers are more likely to attract cheaters anyway, so I've nether bothered with it.

OK - Thanks In all honesty there are still areas in all maps where spotting players camping in shadows is difficult so there isn't any huge advantage. Though it could just be that my Matrox G400Max is set with a lower gamma setting than other peoples GFX to begin with.

Also, Punkbuster don't check for this in their latest iteration. It just puzzled me as to why they should have.
