on the recent topics of music : tis my cousin rob's band ,he's some where in america now doing an album Seven years ago, with big hair glam metal long dead in its grave and grunge in its final death throes. With corporate sponsored rock lurking menacingly around the corner, four friends decided to start a skate punk band called Just for Kicks, mainly because they had nothing better to do and wanted to start yet another band for a laugh. The name said it all. All the members had been in bands with one another in the few years previous but with no serious end product. A few lo fi gigs, a rare glimpse of a good song here and there but nothing more promising than that. As time wore on though, the skate punk idea rapidly (and thankfully) gave way to something a little bit edgier. Bringing in the more memorable choruses, riffs with a little more guts and bite to them and something more to explore; Just for Kicks was slowly giving way to JFK. Things still weren't quite right however and a new drummer was brought into the band. Suddenly JFK started to look like a serious proposition. The songs improved beyond measure, as did the look of the band, (an absolute blessing). Then recently another personnel change came about as the bass player left to follow his own projects. A replacement has been found with a yet higher level of musicianship, which is pushing the other members even harder. The line-up and the songs have never been so good, and now JFK are a heavy rock band more than capable of challenging anything the Americans have been doing in recent years and flying the British rock flag high again.
