What I meant was there would be no lasting sense of collective victory, as its DVF kills DVF - only personal victory. Now theres nothing wrong with that, of course (It's what CS is about, afterall... )

But solid teams would mean a continuous rivalry - the disadvantages of which, I believe, outweigh the benefits. So sorry I brought it up

So yeah after I've managed to say nothing in two whole posts, I agree that a DVF-filled-to-the-brim server would be excellent.

At the mo, I cant play as often as I would like, because my midsus hits the roof, whenver she catches me on CS( or pc usually). As a consequence, I am more than happy to host any games with my PC as a dedicated server. I have a ADSL connection and a duron 800 and 256 meg memory. More than enough for what we need.
All I ask is a quick message on ICQ and I'll stop whatever is d/l on Direct Connect, and host a game merrily.
Providing I cant play.

Oh yeah as for the team thing, I reckon a first come, first choice type thing. All the teams should be split evenly bandwith style anyway, as it allocates you a team on a first choice type basis. The fastest connections usually end up 1 t, 1ct,1 t, 1 ct. etc yadda yadda yadda.

Just thought - another option would be to run some bots to fill up the numbers, always leaving a few slots free so people can join.
