Well I finally plucked up the guts to give it a blast, when i say plucked up i panicked about it completely taking over my cs file and me losing all the maps etc and having to re-install which lets face it would have been a complete arse ache. Well i'm happy to say that it don't and works completely independant.

First thing to note is that with cable your gonna get around 100 odd ping as all the servers are (i think) american. secondly i think steam (the program that comes with 1.4) looks for the most up to date version of the software every time u log on which can take a couple of mins. I went on one server with a map I don't have and it took me about 7 mins to get into the game, i went to one with a map i had and it took about 4 mins.

But once your in and playing you begin to notice the subtle differences.

1. Jumping.
Try and get out of the habit of jumping about like a twat as it slows u down. You know how when you get shot it's really difficult to walk, well jumping has nearly the same affect. I thought this would make the game slower, but it don't, it just gets rid of the bunny hopping fools .

2. Weapons
Only played the beta for a couple of hours so don't want to comment yet on weapon efficiency / accuracy etc, but the first thing you notice is that most of em have a different name.

3. Spectator.
No kidding, it's almost a joy to be dead There are so many different views, including first person perspective which I kinda hope will help you spot the hackers. Theres also a map which is... erm, scratching head trying to think how to expalin it... erm.. let's just say it's good. It gives u location of every player and you can have a little window to the top left viewing the person you are following (with chase cam).

4. Dieing
Instead of the shitty screen freezing for a couple of secs the camara pans out and you see your dead body lieing there. Oh and the bodies don't dissapear.

5. Graphics
Didn't see that much of a difference but i think they have been improved. The water ripples when u shoot it, if you feel like trying to kill water that is

So, there you have it, there's a dragon's eye view of the new version, if you want my opinion you should go to the above link and give a try, but only if your a lpb. If you still aint forked out for cable then.... well U SHOULD U TIGHT GITS.
