BIOS

I've recently got my christmas present which was an AMD sempron XP2800+ and removed my old AMD Athalon XP2400+ but when i boot it still tells me that it is an AMD Athalon XP2400+. Would flashing the BIOS solve this problem and is there any danger of running it under its current settings? and if i do need to flash the BIOS does anyone live near Derby? :thumbs:

you will need to check if your motherboard supports the 2800 sempron with its current bios, it looks like it doesn't. seems like you are going to have to update the bios, it's not that difficult if you follow the instructions

found a good utility on the ASUS website that i'd missed before. Cheers Matt, i've now updated my BISO but don't want to have to do it again as it gave me a big scare after re-booting. Hate black screens
