A perfect game is a bit like the perfect woman, it exists only in our imagination. You are not a man or indeed a gamer if you are unable to appreciate the finer points of a variety of tastes. You will find a close match, but ultimately your eye continues to wander. Hope to hell my wife does not read this!

For me (we are talking games here right?) :

FPS
Doom (which started it all.....forget wolfenstien)
Halflife (which showed how it should be done, MOH is not better!)

Strategy
Sydicate (for its time)
C&C (original still to be bettered in my opinion, though TA came close)

Space Combat
Elite (classic)
Descent (had the best multiplayer net code for quite some time and proper 3D long before quake)

Sports
Links 9x
NHL 9x (actually resulted in a couple of real fights and damaged furniture!)

Driving
Colin McCrea 2
GTA 3 (but thats just back to shooting again!)

Adventure
The Hobbit (C64, misty eyed just thinking about the Goblin's dungeon)
