Had PGA 2003 for about a week now (well done DVDcrave ) and it is a fantastic game.

Analogue control system works very well and is way more preferable than the old style of controls that you used to get. At first, when I was playing through the little training bit, I thought it seemed to make things a bit easy, but when you actually get out on the proper courses there is a nice balance between it being challenging, while still meaning you can hit some shots like the pros.

Graphics are fantastic (even got wild animals in the background) and there’s some great animation on the golfers. Some of the music is a bit dodgy, but you don’t have to listen to it when you’re playing.

Best thing about it though is just the sheer amount of options, gamestyles and stuff to unlock. Loads of courses, players, game types, trophies to collect, upgradeable clubs, balls, gloves etc. etc.

My only real criticism are at first I wanted a much freer camera to be able to fly around the holes a bit more, but once you learn to use the ones you get, this doesn’t affect play in any way.

its NOT LIVE enabled afaik. which kinda sucks really. no doubt the 2004 version WILL be LIVE tho. as ive heard rumours that we are going to be taking that side of things seriously from now on!

GOT TW2003 for Xmas on the XBox - excellent golf game, probably the best I've played on a console.

It's a bit confusing at first, particularly as it's setup completely different to the PC version, but once you work out which options do what, you can see why - the menus are better suited to a console.

Superb graphics and sound, etc. Commentary pretty much spot on (so far none of the usual cock-ups you normally get with sports games commentary).

Control mechanism is difficult to get to grips with, but a hell of a lot better than the old click-click-click...oh look I hit another perfect shot.

Had a few friends over, some never touch a computer game, but they've all had a crack at this one.

Haven't checked it out yet - but there appears to be some capability to compete wih others via a code system from their web-site. Looks like you get a code from them which sets up specific courses/conditions - you then play (sadly, offline), and then post your score (via another code) back.

P.S. If anyone is reading this and designing a golf game can you PLEASE put in one feature - retire golfer ? A 4 player, 18 hole match is gonna take a couple of hours, if someone needs to leave halfway through it would be good to be able to "retire" them from the match instead of having to play their shots so the remaining 3 can continue (or restart all over again !)
