Okay latest 'bad' update.

New 512Mb pc3200 DDR400 ram chip arrives in post.
Power down and install into mobo.
Power up and start to smell burning - aaaargh!!!! :eek:
Now PC fails to boot or even get as far as bios - used to do a small beep when powering up then into primary hdd etc screen but now just one long beep as if serious error.

QUESTION: Which part am I more likely to have fried?
MOBO?
RAM?
CPU?
GFX Card? - please no :*(
am currently posting this on an apple mac i have at home

- power lights come on - have tried all possible combinations of ram in different slots but to no avail.
