So do you always have to be online and connected to steam to play HL2 ? If one day I am bored think I will go on the net oh no my connection is down never mind ill play HL2 eerrm nope

its like single player condition zero u can actually play it offline.

I put a HL2 icon on my desktop and clicked it off line, steam then came up saying can not login net connection not active?

try starting stem in offline mode. then starting hl2 through steam.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but for some reason HL2 is NOT working offline when the authentication servers are down (happened for 2 hours since launch).

It forgets your password, even if you do get in offline mode it says "game not available in offline mode".

Valve dropped a bullock on that one.
