Friends v3.0 beta

Friends is back in the shape of the v3.0 public beta.

To have a go of it, you need to set Steam not to run automatically but
instead from a shortcut. Edit the shortcut properties and in the 'Target' box, add this line after the steam.exe bit:

Code: Select all

-clientbeta steam3friends -beta steam3friends

Your 'Target' but should then look something like this:

Code: Select all

C:\Games\Valve\Steam\Steam.exe -clientbeta steam3friends -beta steam3friends

Run Steam and it'll update to enable the new friends system.

Don't forget...

If you're having trouble with this, make sure that all quote marks are still there

My target box in the shortcut looks like this:
"C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\Steam.exe" -clientbeta steam3friends -beta steam3friends

after i did this it said my dust_2 map was missing!
removed the command prompt and it was fine :S

How odd. I doesn't do anything to the game files it just updates the steam platform.
