Selling a plasma.

Post by jamie »

Righto, had my SD plasma for just over 2 years now. Think its time to move into the HD arena, now that you can get 1080p sets at a decent price. Glad I didnt get tricked into buying a fake HD set.
Im trying to get rid of my current LG 42 inch, what would be a reasonable price to expect for it? its in mint condition, HDMI component yadda yadda,, was thinking somewhere in the region of 300 - 350 quid. Too much? Too cheap? Any ideas?

Aren't you gonna have to ship this new tele to Australia?

Wouldn't it be worth waiting and buying one over there at non-Rip Of Britain prices?

They're PAL over there, so it should work.
Mind you - what's their voltage?

voltage is less.

HD sets are definately cheaper here, since they are manufactured much closer.

Plasma suck balls, use more energy and just don't have an advantage to LCD anymore.

Start getting excited about your TV for cheap Jim, but start getting depressed about just how shit the Internet is in Oz, its at least 5 years behind UK and that's being generous (its also stupidly expensive, as they charge per MB for upload and download)

I also argue that 780p is by no means being tricked if you have a screen lower than 36" as the stupid high res of 1080p just makes everything really small.

Wow, this looks like a minefield of issues.

My advise is never buy a SONY television, their after sales customer services are horrible human beings who need to die slowly in an oven.

My Sony starting breaking 3 weeks after the 12 month warranty ran out and the bastards wouldn't even entertain fixing it. I even threatened them with the Consumer Rights Act and they didn't care.

slightly off on a tangent Bob, but I can feel your woe.

I just bought a stupidly expensive HP lappy and after 2 weeks got a SMART failure on the disk, with it being 30 degrees over its max operating temp..

Check the temps and see that it's running at around 80 degrees at idle, due to a graphics card that runs at 95!

Called HP to ask what the heck was going on, and they will only send me a new hard drive to bake.

Bought it 2 weeks ago, right to return = ZERO in Australia....

Bugger.

From what I remember, if they sell to the UK then they have to follow the UK laws.

Which means if they shipped it to the UK, you can get them to fix it properly.
