The next big thing?

Post by jamie »

So what is it? Any future looking people here? Whats going to be the next big thing that happens? We have had/having ipod mania, the internet boom and bang, whats going to happen soon which will be any good. Smart cars taking over the roads? Wearable pc's? TV watches? I am kind of hoping the next generation of mobile phones will be good. I read in T3 not so long ago about wifi enabled phones, working over vast ranges, not the 100 or so feet you get from a crummy wifi card at the minute, and they also may have a gps reciever built in. Tomtom to go anyone?

I think voice recognition has had its day. Notebook/tablet pc's are the order of the day, with better handwriting recognition.

mmm I can't wait for that.

I agree with jamie, voice recognition will never go beyond,

"Close Curtains, I said CLOSE CURTAINS, C-LOSE-CUR-TAINS, ah forget it I'm getting a clapper."

Has anyone read Prey by Michael Crichton? Way off into the distance yet, but makes you think what sort of stuff governments could get up to with it.

Global Corporations giving 25% unemployment rates as they "downsize" and move to countries where they can abuse peoples rights more freely.

The Sea Level raising another 2 meters in 10 years, causing one of the official "sea level monitor" stations to actually fall into the sea it was built 125 yards away from just 8 years ago.

More rubbish sold to "follow the leader" idjits, then upgraded, then resold etc etc (mobiles, pdas, cars, maybe a new video / sound format - so people can continue to pay 19.99 for a 1980 tv series they already own on video).

The resumption of the cold war, but this time with China instead now that America is once again ran by idiots (Clinton was an exception to the rule).

Probably going to rain on me and me only for at least a year too
.
erm.... oops wrong topic :P
