So you really want to be a goth?

Metallica = lyrics makes sense and real neat guitar work.
Slipknot = Crank it up to max and thrash the instruments while screaming.

I personaly don't feel the lyrics of Metallica make sence, if you listen to their new CD.... I feel they sing it to attract "younger" people to sell more albums.dark_wulf wrote:HERESY!Blade! wrote:if you take the time to listen to slipknot they're basicly metallica with better drummers and hardcore lyrics

Anyway I agree with the "old folks" here. The older rock like Iron Maiden, ACDC, Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Free, Janis Joplin etc.......I think is more honest.
In the early days music wasn't about money, just about getting as many birds as possible
Oh man I feel old..
Thank god for the Internet, It has given me more insight about music (by downloading as many mp3's as possible). And yes, if I like a band I actualy buy the CD.
Don't even mention St.Anger. I have only listened to that CD twice and found it shit each time.
I'm tempted to tun it into some kind useless of desktop mirror decoration increasing its usefulness twice over (or just flog it on EBay).

I ment st. Anger..... It was a gift to me so I can't do anything about it (I've hidden it behind all other crap cd's)dark_wulf wrote:Don't even mention St.Anger. I have only listened to that CD twice and found it shit each time.

They even included a DVD, at first I thought my TV was broken, it is recorded in such manner I can't watch it without getting headaches...
Their old stuff ok good, but now.... yuk
Don't be ashamed to own St Anger - it's a historic document of the sad decline of a great, great band
(And some of it is actually good - although I agree about the 'appealing to younger people' thing, as well as with anyone who might say they were trying to get back to where they were before the Black album but kind of missed). They have one of the strongest back catalogues you could hope for, and have made many many right choices. Now they're old, sober and, we have to admit, past it. But they're still Metallica!
To put them in the same sentence as something like slipknot is nuts, and to say the latter has better drumming...
Lars is not an especially wonderful drummer, but he is a great drummer, and heck, he is Metallica (well somewhere between half and a third of it).
