the flashes leave an after image if they hit u dead on, u get a flash of it just before u get ur vision back.

the grenades deafen you for small amounts of time, and send everything flying.

i don't think i've pld an fps that has felt more "real" while palying it. i actually felt like a part of the battle.

I certainly think its good looking.... but I'm finding it difficult to get used to (maybe due to the fact that I'm playing on Wint's lappy).

Blooming FB's - they catch me out everytime. I also thought the computer had buggered up when someone threw one at me. I just stand there like a rabbit in the headlights.

Certainly changes the style of play.

Just do "Find Servers" then sort by ping.
There's quite a few UK based 16-20 man servers that seem OK when I've been testing.

the splash has been reduced by the looks of things, and i don't think it passes through walls in the same way.

Wh00p!!! played it last night, Huzzuh!!

my mate send me a message confirming about the HE grenades, they dont go thru walls or crates, so WH()()PPIIEEE..

Love the flash bangs
Recoil is good, not same as cs:norm, but if ya used to other games like bf:v and bhd, its similar to those so not a major issue..

I wonder how the servers are handling it, seems good ping but the ones ive played on could have been struggling a little, being that the map itsself has changed and its got to tell allt he clients about object moving, being shot at etc aswell as the normal player positions and bullet reg..

plus, anyone notice about outside of the map being 3d aswell and not just a flat image like old..

Nice screenshots - the level of detail is quite stunning when you clock things up. I mean, that bottle

Oh, and the 3D skyboxes are superb, the idea being that you don't appear to be in a "level" but just part of a larger environment, and they seem to capture this nicely. They were developed for HL2 - when you're in the city it looks like it stretches for several miles around you.

Played it some more last night and I like it a LOT; although I still think Valve's "minimum specs" are laughable.
HL2 (and CSS) is going to force a LOT of upgrades, but personally I think it's looking worthwhile.

I was getting quite a poor FPS on this, although the environments are very nice :) I did find (and one of the [BSOD] guys as well) that 1024x768 ran the same or better than 800x600 which is odd.

I will be testing it again to see if knocking out some background services will do (like virus scanner and uninstalling this bloody iTunes Helper that keeps popping up in task manager) and see what effect that has.

Until then , anyone got any idea what settings are needed to make it run better like the filterin and vSync in options?
