No Way!!! So your saying the biggest marketing device owned by Microsoft gave it's own console-saving game a perfect score?!?!?!!!!!OneOneOne
I don't know what amazes me more, their audacity that we wouldn't see through it or you're ability to be sucked in by it.

PLUS why would they need to hype it up?? over 90% of xbox owners own halo, and pretty much every one of them thinks it's the best game on the console so it's not as if everyone isnt already going to buy it is it?

the odd person doesnt like it yes! but still the reality is higher percentage of xbox owners own Halo than any other game on any other machine. It really is bloody fantastic in every dept and how anyone cannot appreciate that on xbox is beyond me!
but each to their own!
really it looks better than Halo and Halo couldve got near enough 10 out of 10 in my opinion.

Halo was an overrated piece of crap, so I see no reason why halo 2 wont be.
Sure halo was good, but it was also
1. Childish
2. Repetitive
3. Unoriginal.

as far cry was original??
halo2 apparently isnt repetitive AT ALL! and to say it's childish I just cant see how anyone could have that point of view! but there you go. You say you love doom3 and from what I've heard that's pretty silly in the extreme, walk into a room, pick up health pack, walls comes down - lots of imps etc! I mean that's just basic, unoriginal, childish pap! could it be you dont like halo cos you dont have an xbox possibly?
yeah it may not have been amazingly original, but it did what it did better than any other fps out there, until halo2!

plus what other fps let you run around on foot then get in vehicles (including flying)?? wasnt that original - and havent far cry, halflife 2 etc etc imitated it? - tho no doubt not as well! plus Halo2 has dual wielding, with any two forms of gun - that will be copied in every fps henceforth pretty much. PLUS it totally revolutionised control pad set-up - left triggers for grenades (grenades which no other game has come even close to matching), and reinvented the split screen co-op! so how about that for some achievements?

Sticking my original issue regarding the stupid Official Magazine Halo 2 perfect score:
Lets take it as given that Halo 2 is the biggest release on the Xbox this year, a given that Microsoft has dumped a ton of money into advertising revenue and given they have spent THREE years employing hundreds of staff to get this product to the market place. I would say that after all that, they will want to squeeze every available penny out of Halo 2.
Now given that the Official Magazine is funded by a)Microsoft and b) Advertising Revenue from Microsoft and c) is the first magazine to offer a review to a eager fan-boy community, please tell me what editor would allow Halo 2 to go out of the door at anything less than an argument-causing sycophantic 100/100?
Moving onto your comments about how good Halo was, I don't really care about dual screen capabilities, how I can enter vehicles or how many grenades I can throw at once. What I care about is, did I enjoy playing it?
The answer is yes and no, it got repetitive and boring as the game progressed and was saved by a fantastic start and a very nice ending. Some levels could have done with being shorter, some could have done without being the same level as before but reversed. However all in all it is one of the better games I have ever played.
Each person has their own hot-buttons when it comes to games though, Halo didn't touch alot of mine however it may have touched all of yours. It is unfair to say that because you didn't enjoy a game someone else shouldn't (in the same way that it is unfair for you to state how Halo was better than Doom 3. (Mainly coz you're wrong
)) Three brackets on a run :O

I never said someone else shouldnt?! but anyway...... all that stuff about halo 2 bein big game of year etc etc - well how many games have had that said about them?? GTA: SA on PS2, HALFLIFE2 on pc - yet I have never seen a game in my life get 100 out of 100 EVER.
until I play it who knows how good it is, but I dont see how it gettin 100 out of 100 can possibly be construed as a bad thing? all I'm sayin is to say s'thin is childish without any back-up argument is in itself - childish!
Doom3 I have never actually played, tho it is coming to xbox so I will! but the xbox magazines have all said in previews that in all actuality, it isnt really that good - bit of a letdown. and i do know people who HAVE played it and mostly I have heard that it starts off fun then gets dull fast! but I will wait and see, I cannot judge!
all magazines are funded by advertising revenue.
and halo2 APPARENTLY is not repetitive, levels are big but not as big as couple on halo - tho 5 more levels in all, all lasting about 60-90 mins and there is no repeat levels so looks like they listened to all the niggles people had with the original. plus the graphics look bloody incredible! anyway it's out in a week so we will see indeed!

WTF, could you go into a bit more detail on this revolution.gunslinger wrote: PLUS it totally revolutionised control pad set-up - left triggers for grenades
How?gunslinger wrote: and reinvented the split screen co-op!
I didn't think halo was the bees danglies and can think of several fps which in my opinion are better. e.g. Timesplitters 2, Goldeneye, Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Metroid.gunslinger wrote: but it did what it did better than any other fps out there
That still doesn't mean it is a masterpiece. Also without any stats I'm going to take that as utter bo......gunslinger wrote: but still the reality is higher percentage of xbox owners own Halo than any other game on any other machine.
I disagree.gunslinger wrote: It really is bloody fantastic in every dept and how anyone cannot appreciate that on xbox is beyond me![]()
There is a 'special' relationship that exists with official magazines.gunslinger wrote: they arent owned by microsoft and have no obligation to say anything....
I saw Mario 64 get it.gunslinger wrote: yet I have never seen a game in my life get 100 out of 100 EVER
Yes, if they do a bad review of a game some games publishers will reduce the amount of advertisement they give that particular magazine. Also they may not get early review copies from those publishers which hurts the magazines because all their competiters are reviewing the games instead.gunslinger wrote: all magazines are funded by advertising revenue

The upshot is that this game is over-hyped. I haven't seen it yet it is over-hyped. No game could live upto a score of 100/100 unless it shipped with a bumper bag of blow jobs and Jennifer Love Hewitt in the most horniest 'Shag a Geek' mood she has ever experienced, holding a family size tube of Vaseline.

well most people consider mario 64 to be rather good!
Halo is SO much better than Wolfenstein! FFS Wolfenstein was THE worst shooter I've ever played! I bought it for xbox and took it back within 4 days (the shortest I've ever owned a game!) it was abysmal, RUBBISH shooting, rubbish baddies! seriously I thought it was quite possibly one of the worst games I've ever played! - then there is crosshair all over the screen Timesplitters 2! I give up......

I think you will find that the first Half Life set standerds for all FPS games and i also think that you will find that Half Life 2 has imitated nothing as there was forms of transport in the orginal.gunslinger wrote:plus what other fps let you run around on foot then get in vehicles (including flying)?? wasnt that original - and havent far cry, halflife 2 etc etc imitated it? - tho no doubt not as well! plus Halo2 has dual wielding, with any two forms of gun - that will be copied in every fps henceforth pretty much.
