I had exactly the same problem with my system, overclocking the 2500xp to 3200xp. All i did was up the cpu voltage from 1.60V to 1.70V. That did the trick.

Thing is I'm not overclocking a 2500xp to a 3200xp...It is a genuine 3200xp!!.

I think it's sorted now anyway. I haven't had a crash in a couple of days. I have it back at 3200XP and all is running fine. I even overclocked the 6800GT Core to 370mhz and the memory to 1066...so far, so good.

don't bother is my advice.

Buying and fitting a NV5 Silencer on the GT was the worst move I have ever made - many people share the same sentiment.

The coolers are cool for the ATI 9700/9800 etc - as the stock one was poor - but the NV5 is FAR FAR worse than the stock on gainward and XFX cards.

I think he means the new CPU cooler I was going to buy. I wouldn't dream of changeing the one on the GPU.

BTW Mark No I didn't get it yet and I still want a bit of your artic silver when I do get it :)

Just a quick recap..

I have now got this thing running sweet and I'm even overclocking it by brining the core and memory speeds up to that of an ultra. Seemed to be all to do with memory (system) timings.

Good to hear.

It's always been the way that these "cutting edge" >250 quid cards have been a bugger to set up.

Why is it that a 6800 can just be plugged in, drivers installed and works , but GT/Ultra needs so much tweaking all round - was the same with the 9500 Pro and Geforce 4 Ultramathingy too.
