So - is it a good idea to put a load of work into a house I don't own yet?

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/warren.alexander/newhouse/

I've rebuilt the chimney breast this weekend, complete with Subwoofer enclosure and wiring port all ready for the plasma screen.
Shame we've not exchanged on the property yet isn't it!

Well, I'm intending to put acoustic cloth over the box where the sub sits, so it should all disappear. The Orb speakers look ace though.

I'm not that handy with the screwdriver - that little lot took me all weekend...and that's 3 days this week :(

Now all I need is the balls to atually order the plasma. There's a deal on HTF at the moment for the Panny PW7...I know it's not hidef, but I'm not sure I care. Or at least, I'm not sure I care £700 pounds extra.
Cheers though :)

Edit - I turned the sub up to max and there were no rattles from the enclosure...so I've done something right with the bracing

It will most likely 1 to 2 years before high deff picks up. Sky will not start to show high deff films until 2006 and the studios will not start to send out high deff films until the argument in-between blue ray and HD-DVD is sorted.
So buy a normal plasma and just upgrade latter.

Yeah - that's my thought on the matter too. It's just a bit galling that I'm leaving a perfectly good Sanyo Z2 PJ behind in my old house that IS hidef ready, but I can't afford a plasma that does the same.

Then why dont you take your PJ with you? I know you already sold it with the house but say you had it stolen or something?

Nah, we got near as damnit the asking price, so I'm not going to mess the buyers around.
That's how we can afford the plasma in the first place.

And...Edit...what the heck are you doing on here? Aren't you supposed to be out getting dru^d^d...watching other people get drunk right now?

Nice house there Woz, and nice job with the fireplace setup.

I concur with the fella above about upgradnig later once hi-def really takes off in this country. Nowadays, you can pick up a very decent plasma which is hi-def compatible for about £1.7k I think.

I got mine from prcdirect. (Panasonic 42")

Bit of a problem that. I'm a big fan of a nice trimmed bush, and that lot's a bit oh naturale for my liking.

Need to get a heavy duty bush trimmer onto it I think.

Good job woz,

Dont forget to let me know when the AV is all set up. Will the new sub fit in the cubby hole? Or has the XLS200 been moved to the bottom in the Alexanders' wannit list?

With all this innuendo cant believe anyone has gone down the "Laying wood on large breast" route or some sort of wood/box combo ;)
