I have a clrackling noise every few seconds, but i cant pinpoint it.
I tried a few different drivers, taking sound card out and enabling on board sound, but still the same cracking sound, tried headphones, winamp, mediaplayer 10, flashed the bios on motherboard as I was running beta bios and thought that may be conflicting.
I am running windows xp pro with service pack 1 btw.
This is so bizarre.
I am running out of Idea's now.

that sounds like a problem i had - i found out that my headphones wouldnt push fully into the hole, once i cut away a bit of the plastic it sorted the problem, give that a try.

Perhaps try updating with XP Service Pack 2 to se if that helps?
Or go to
www.creaf.com and look up in the knowledge base to see if anyone else using XP is experiencing the same problems.

I found out what the problem was, my chipset drivers was out of date.
I can't seem to get service pack 2 to load, probably due to the dodgy copy of xp pro.

If you have a VIA chipset, you need to download the new 4in1's as they have a problem with the northbridge and PCI bus.
edit: must read posts first.
