Music: FLAC --> MiniDisc, how's it best done?

Post by Sputnik »

Hi, long time listener, first time caller, or something

I'm sure someone will be able to help me, I'm not too clued up on computer-based music...

I've got a Sony MD player and up till now I've just used the Simple Burner to get CDs onto discs. But I have a few downloaded live bootlegs I'd like to get onto MD without losing quality if possible. They're in FLAC at the moment (I play em through Winamp). The Sony SonicStage program, used to burn mp3s etc onto MD, can't import FLACs.

How can I convert FLACs into either MP3 or WAV so that SonicStage can open them, without losing quality? I'm sure there's a clever little program somewhere... Or better, can I just put the FLACs onto MD somehow?

Cheers!

Cheers

I'm struggling to find one that (a) isn't severely limited in shareware mode and (b) actually lets me download it, but I'll keep at it :D

Download FLAC from SourceForge and use FLAC Frontend. The intention being to convert the FLAC files to WAV format.

Converting anything to MP3 is a lossy method. MP3 use Phsyco acoustic predictioning as one of it ways of minimising the amount of unwanted frequencys.

Your best bet will be to go with a high sample rate or change to a different format
