Plasma...hmmmm! [Advice Needed]

Post by Worm »

Been looking at this one

Totally unsure if its any good, the specs on paper are impressive.

Any ideas?
Dont want to break the bank around £1500 or below (as we want a dog also)

Sorry, totally confused with all the different models available....Panny, Poineer, Hitachi, Lg etc etc

Only after good pic quality and varied inputs, as ive got all the other HT equipment.

It looks like a good deal.
I'd go for it with it only being £1200 but I have not seen any Hitachi screens so I can’t give any advice on its true quality. But spec wise it looks good.

Have a look at the AV Forums - I know that some of the older Hitachi screens used a different technology than most screens. This meant that the resolution they reported was not actually comparable with other manufacturers and looked better than it was.
Possibly on relavent with this screen, but AV Forums will know.

I believe its an ALIS panel, which has odd shaped pixels, hence a 1024x1024 for a widescreen panel. Not sure how this relates to picture quality, but with a recomended resolution of 1366x720 for true 720p pictures, I gave it a miss. I am going for the samsung 40 inch lcd,
LE40R51BX which can be had for around the £1200 mark. Trying to get it from work at staff rate though :)

From the few screenings I have seen, looks good compared to others side by side, on a price basis. I dont have it yet, so cant give you a low down. The way I see it though I could look at them forever without buying one, there is always soemthing better due out soon. Samsung just massively price discount their products when releasing a new one so I thought hey, lets get one whilst I still can. Also the pq wazzed over the plasma side by side, in my own opinion. :)
