upscaling DVD players
can anyone recommend a good upscaling DVD player for me, not too expensive....

I have personal experience of these bags of dog poop. Dont do it. Buy yourself a nice Xbox 360 (which you already have) and use that.
The picture quality if far better than the shite that these things pump out especially on a HDTV that already upscales the image to 1280x720 properly for you (i.e. a nice Sony or Panny).
You still see artifacts and you still see blurring on these upscalers (well on every one I saw) and unless your living room is about 20 foot wide, you won't notice ANY difference if you swap from 1020i to 720p to 480i on one of these things if you are closer than that.

Have to disagree there Mike, I have got the samsung upscaling dvd player and I compared it to the xbox, samsung over hdmi, xbox through component, and I found the xbox to be worse than the dvd player. I have tried a few films so far, only got my new tv the other day, but think that upscaling is better.
Nex thing for me to try is connecting my old xbox through vga and see what that plays like.
