Jet lagged to hell, and can't talk the language, and it's raining....but Tokyo!

I can't think of Tokyo without thinking of Lost in Translation.

Business, although yesterday was spent on my own wondering around the town.

This is the view from the bus on the way in :
Image

And this is the view from my hotel room :

Image

Yes - parts of it look a LOT like Bladerunner!

Another view from my hotel - yes, that's a football pitch on top of that tower block!

Image

Also - there is a Woz scale for each place I visit, based on the women. The average score would be 5.
It works like this: You rate each woman you notice out of 10. Starting at 5 - so a stunner would be 10, someone hideous would be 1. Each one you notice (by definition a 5 is not someone you would notice) changes the ranking of the area you're in. So - you notice an equal number of stunnas to monsters and you end up with an overall 5.

So far, Tokyo would have to be a 9 at least, I'm not kidding.

I've got Lost In Translation to watch as it happens - I'll try and watch it tonight.

Edit: Balls, you can't link to my blogger pictures.
I'll try and put them somewhere else.
Edit edit...I can see them now I've done a refresh. Can anyone else see them?

LOL!
I've not seen any, but I've just been out to eat with a work collegue and he then took me to see some of the seedier stuff.
I was seriously spooked to be honest - someone comes up to us on the street and asks if we want to see his club, so the guy I'm with says 'sure' and we get in an extremely dodgy looking lift (seriously - it had some sort of dirty cloth covering the floor and walls, like if you needed to clear up blood you could just lift it out and replace it!). Takes us up 6 floors to see a tiny room with 3 or 4 hookers in it. Being reluctant to partake he then takes us to another floor with his better girls! Again I refused (they were nicer, but I found the whole scene too tragic for words to be honest). So we came out.

I thought we were dead, but everyone was extremely polite, and in fact they didn't even try the hard sell particularly on us.

As we came out, the owners friend said "You took them to the third floor and they're still not interested!". It's sad - they show you the best ones last...like cattle. Oh gosh, I've sounding all PC. It's not that I think it's wrong, I just think it's sad.

So - while I've not seen the knicker vending machines, this place is more liberated than you'd think, and amazingly seems very safe and polite with it. My collegue (he lives here, but he's actually a canadian of chinese descent!) says that he's been many many times to places like that and not once has he been ripped off.

We had beef to eat by the way. It's honestly the most tender and best steak I've ever tasted. This wasn't even Kobi beef - just good Japanese steak.

Sounds like the kind of bad hand action you'd get on the first floor!!! Painful, but cheap.

Yeah - the sandpaper they use gets finer grained as you go up the floors.

Nope, the area where I'm staying (Shibuya) is where the Kogal originated. In fact I can see the actual building itself from my hotel room.
KillJoy wrote: Ccant believe they drive on the left hand side over there!, i may even have to have a trip!
Yeah - you can directly import cars to the UK from here with no problem!

If you whish to look at stranger costumes look out for anime cosplayers

Yeah, loligoths or gothlolis, they don't seem to be able to decide on the name.
There's some pictures of them in my blog. I actually saw one walking to work, so while they're not common, you do see people dressing like it in everyday life.

Oooh, not seen any of them. This place is PACKED with kogals and the like though. It's very distracting.
