Been having a look over a few ofthe videosflying around of the wi in action. Have to say it looks a unique bit of kit at the minute. Some of the games look pretty funky to play, just hope it isnt a one trickpony when it comes out.

So far it has been confirmed:

UK Release date 8th December
Play Gamecube disks, and plug in up to 4 gamecube controllers.
Wifi out of the box.
Play classic old console games, downloaded from a pay subscription service.
Virtual console titles:
NES 500points, SNES 800points, N64 1000points. 2000points=$20 (US)
480p is the highest resolution.
SD cards as a storage medium, although there will be some in the console itself.
Console comes with 1 game, 1 wiimote and a nunchuck. Should be priced somewhere aroud £179, although a price drop might be in order a few days before like on the GC.
DVD playback dropped to lower cost
First party games will be region free, Third Parties can chose to do this.

I will try and find a few of those videos to stick on here.

If they manage to drop the price to say £150 I will probably bag one on release day, just add in another controller and a game or 2, and you are looking the wrong side of £250. Choices, choices..

will still be getting one, the releases look fantastic and some of the ones hot on the heel's are jaw dropping, red steel any one? i can finally blast people and then slice em with a sword that i control by swining, samurai in my own front room :D

Metroid prime corruption looks to be the dogs nuts as well plus the fantastic looking smash brows brawl, mario galaxy looks to be a good solid platformer with a new sonic game on the horizion as well, topped off with what look to be some solid driving games and a few general titles (CoD3 etc) and the back series will give all us die hards all the snes action we could wan (personaly im looking forward to super metroid) and a confirmed Resident evil game as well! This gets better and better.

This will be a damn good christmas prezzy :D

Ditto, when I thought it was going to be £149.99 I was going to get it on release but now I'm going to try and wait a bit longer.

Think about it though, most places will probably put thier own deals out, game for example will probably offer 2 games (possibly alongside wii sports, perhaps including it) and 2 pads for around £200 as a total package which isnt really that bad, even at 175 basic that includes wii sports which i persoanly think will be one of the must haves for the console. Having said that its a crafty gimic to sell the nuchuck and remote seperatley but i forsee combi deals on these to ensure that it sells well in comparison to the 360 and get as many sales in before the ps3.

I'm sooooooo looking forward to blowing some hard earned cash on another Nintendo box.

I think my friends are wondering when this love affair that sees me own all but the NES is going to end!

I just think, PC aside, you just can't beat a Nintendo developed game (and some of their specialist 3rd parties.... sob, I miss Rare - and what have they released on the XBOX? Nothing but poo :/ )

I'm going to get two!
One for me and one for the eldest.
We're a Ninty family - we've already got two N64s, several gameboys, 2 DS Lites and 2 GCs (and I have a bargain Mario Football spec ed GC waiting in the car to give to my 4-year old at christmas too!)

Res Evil 4 on the GC is still one of the best games I've played recently, so I'm desperate to get a new one when it comes out.

You can't beat Nintendo for fun games that you can involve other people in, and also they tend to rely on gameplay so there are far more games appropriate for all ages.

I think sony lost the plot on this point and xbox never even had it.

its just a shame we have to hang on untill 08/12/06.

I will deffo get one, (just for the tennis game) and a PS3 (when they finally are released).

Personally, I dont see how it can rival the 360 or the PS3 as its a totally different gaming experience, with which will more than likley be amied at a younger audience. As before (when I owned other Nintendo machines) I only find myself playing the console with other people, never on single player :?. Dont get me wrong it WILL to very well for takings, but over time (3/4 years) ...... people will get bored, and there are only so many games that you can wave and shake a stick thing at, I think it will have a limited time span (like all the other machines).

Depending on your personal preference I suppose.

PS: Test Drive Unlimited = WOW!!!!! Next Gen heaven.

I woke up yesterday wanting one, so as a compromise to myself I'm not going to pre-order but instead on 9/12/06 I'm just going to go and see if I can buy one.

Well, my Xbox is in the loft, the PS2 lost it's edge, but I still break out the GC pretty regularly, so in my experience the Ninty has MORE lifespan.
I tire of flashy graphics (or realise that my PC has overtaken them) but I don't tire of gameplay.
Hell, my son still plays Gameboy Advanced games on his DS.

Xbox? the original one? I sold that ages ago ...... Where's your 360 dude?

I must admit I have had some of my best ever gaming experiences mine, I have never completed so many games in such a short space of time, on one platform before, Ghost Recon AW, PGR3, COD2, Prey, Tombraider Legend, and its not because they are easy, its because I love em and cant put them down.
Im currenty hooked on TDU, which is so ace, its the most impressive game I have played to date, with graphics sound and gameplay, the fact that its also MOOR adds even more quality.
I think its the ability to play L!ve that draws me in the most, the gamplay over live is ace.

The last time I had this much fun gaming was Half Life 2!

Must admit, I hardly ever get the PS2 out, and I only get the PSP/DS out for holidays.

I hardly touch the PC these days, as im fed up with having to upgrade it every 3/6 months to keep up with the current gaming trend.

I understand the "gameplay" topic very much as I have owned at some point in my life every console going along with the amazing games each platform boasts;
Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Double Dragon (NES)
F-zero, Street Figher 2, FF (SNES)
Afterburner, Alex Kid, R-type, Paperboy (MASTER SYSTEM)
Sonic, Flash back, Madden, Shadow of the Beast, Castle of illusion (MEGADRIVE)
Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, Devil May Cry, GTA3, Gran Turismo (PS2)
Doom (Jaguar)
Quake, Unreal, Counterstrike, Half Life 1 & 2, Sims, various SG (PC)
Turok, mario cart (N64)
Sensible Soccer, Robocop 3, Another World, Ikari Warriors (Amiga)
Erm. ?? (SEGA SATURN)
Obviously im missing loads .... but you get the idea.

I find games that have the best gameplay are the ones that allow you to get into the flow easy, like any FPS games, Tomb Raider, Resident evil style games.

:? Mine's at least 2 years old, and I don't feel a crushing urge to upgrade it yet.

You've got to get one, then we can all share our <S>Wii</S> friend codes like we did with the DS.

Speaking of which, I've FINALLY managed to get the house fully extended.

I had the Royal Crown in my shop the other day, but couldn't afford it - it's 1.2 million bloody bells!
