Got to admit - I've managed to stay clear of all of the consoles since the Rowtron (http://old-computers.com/museum/computer.asp?c=727&st=2)

hehe - most of them just seem to have poorly implemented PC games these days (awaits flames... :D ), but I saw a TV advert for the WII last night and it actually looked quite cool.

Love the control things, someone was fishing with 2 controls. Tempting....

You've got to get one, then we can all share our <S>Wii</S> friend codes like we did with the DS.
I just can't work out if that was sarcastic or not. For me it didnt really work, it would have been better if only 1 person needed to put the others friend code in and then the other user confirm its ok..

If that made any sense.

I love online DS gaming and still do it now (FFIII at the mo, tho WiFi is weeeeeak).

Nope that wasn't sarcasm (for once). The more the merrier. Anyway I think the Wii is one code per console instead of game.*

I had many many visitors to my island on AC.
A big flaw is that the code changes if you change the console, so all of the codes I have since the upgrade are useless.

I watched a demo of the Wii instore at GAME in Bristol on Friday.

Unfortunately I can't say I was impressed in the slightest. They were demonstrating the Golf from Wii Sports and the user didn't seem to have any control over what was on-screen at all.

It was strange, the user would get the back swing ready but the on screen character didn't respond for about a second and a half after that. Then the forward swing didn't seem to make any difference whether it was done fast or slow.

Bit gutted after seeing this :(

Apparently the controller gets WAAAAAYYYY out of whack if you dont point at the sensor bar every 10-30 seconds.

That might have been the issue in Game?

weird, I played a full game yesterday, and had no responsiveness problems at all. In fact if I want to be gutted , it would be down to it being far TOO oversensitive.

For example, in golf I discovered that there is absolutely no difference in a big long whacking swing up to the shoulder - from an accidental quick jerk of the remote. Like a really short but sharp jerk is a massive whack.

Bit strange... Mine comes on launch hoorah!

Id imagine that theres a few sensitivity settings to be mucked with though, and if your having a go in a store one i imagine it will be on default which may prove a tad quick for someone who hasnt had a go before

That's the excuse I've used for the Canon EOS, not sure it will wash for the 'family' gift as well.

Well I noticed a couple of people on the mother forums had a problem with their sound so you'd probably want to discover that fault now (if it exists). :)

played on it yesterday, twas ace, sensitivity was not a problem in the slightest played virtual billiards and it was perfectly responsive to gentle taps and powerful shots.
tennis was ace as well!
and cow racing!

This console has it all and thats from 2 games, cant wait to get into the real meat of the lineup titles (metroid, zelda, red steel etc)

Must say it took me a bit to understand exactly how to play some games (tennis, golf) but some are instantly playable (bowling).

What a cracking little console.

Is it just me in that my arms feel like there falling off?

I like the golf but have been told that Tiger Woods 07 is just a port from the 360 and not made for the wii remote.
Mind you EA has compensated for its crap wii line up (it betted on 360 and PS3) they have gone and bought Headgate Studios and told them just to make wii only games.

Yep, kids Christmas present, and I obviously had to try it out. Not particularly impressed by the free game that comes with it. It's a nice showcase but not alot of depth or replayablility after a couple of weeks I think.

I am going to go for Wii Play as it comes with another controller so the competition element comes in then, which should increase the life of Wii Sports.
