Go for a 9800 PRO instead of a 4200. Same price, about £120 quid, lots better performance.

As above - don't waste your money on a 4200 - these cards are way out of date compared to the 9800 pro's performance. You'll gain at least 4000 points on your benchmark between these 2 cards.

GET IT FROM HERE
Note: it comes with all the leads but no drivers. They can be downloaded at: http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html

I just sold my Ti4200 to upgrade to the 9800 Pro and I was gobsmacked at the difference in performance  . Oh and Ti4200 are no where near £120 these days - not sure where Blade is getting his info from but I think he may be using bogus sources :?

If your getting a 9800 Pro, i think the MSI - recent releases only(check web)- uses the 9800XT chipset but is underclocked as 9800 Pro, ATITOOL i think will allow u to boost this backup to XT without firmware..

yer, from my GF4 Ti4200 running 1280x1024 @ 16bit in cs - fluxed at 99 but went to 70ish a quite a bit with smoke..

9800 Pro - 1600x1200 @ 32bit - 99+fps constant

massive increase and i got 6 kills in 30 mins at the planetside now i can see things a bit!!! record!

9800pro it is then, but i have no idea what most of the stuff urb said means, although he did go back to the gay bar after sum of us had left so hey it's to be expected.

Can anyone recommend a decent PCI graphics card that is closer to newer cards but better than a R9000? They are dirt cheap now PCI Express has been released :D

Although I still need to cram some cooling and a Pentium 4 in my box....
