Totally missed all the hype about this, what is it about? It's everywhere. I thought it was secret messages in the Bible for ages, but it ain't is it.

I have to be honest, I really enjoyed this book - Winter picked it up on a whim when it came out - but it had me completely engrossed - especially as I was in Paris when reading it!

I've read most of his other books, some aren't as good, but one called Demons and Angels is very good too, (vaguely about the Illuminati!).

And if secret codes and groups really rocks your boat, a book called "Them (Adventures with Extremists)" by Jon Ronson is a must, there was a documentary series made about the book on tv, mainly about him trying to find out about the Bilderberg Group, NWO etc., a really interesting read.

One thing i do recall is a quote saying sumthing about the twin brothers falling in the 21st centuary (obviously that means from the year 2000 onwards) and so they did on 9/11

My thoughts on the program exactly :(

The Holy Blood and the holy grail/Davinci code puts forward a theory on something biblical. Baldric buggers off to see some sad dusty historian and asks "Is this (insert theological theory here) true?" Dusty Historian replies "Nope.. All a load of cobblers me old mucker" Baldric says "Yeah thought as much ta anyway. I'll see you in about two theories time for I have a cunning plan on how to get more travelling expenses out of channel 4". And so it went till the credits rolled.

/deletes from tivo without watching/

I have read all of Dan Browns books now, they all follow a very similar timeline. Great to read, dont read too much into it though. You can do a da-vinci code tour aparently, they take you to the places in the book, and show you the mystical stuff. Sounds fun.

A brilliant summary which was far more entertaining and enlightening than the program itself.

I find it incredible that anyone can believe they would get a complete picture just from that one show. I think the point of the show is exactly the same as the books...that is to promote theological discussion.

I haven't read the books so I can't easily denounce them nor can I denounce the show because it is related. I did think baldric was convincing though, even if he was after some traveling expenses.

I don't think I was looking for the absolute answer to all the questions posed just a slightly more scientific in-depth look at some of them. Instead all we got was Tony Robinson and the few people he consulted denouncing all with a few words. The problem, I believe, is that they have tried to fit to much in to this single show. What was needed was a series on the individual subjects eg; The Templars and the Holy Grail or The Mysteries of Priory Of Sion with the last in the series tying it all together. This would also have the added benefit of pleasing baldrics bank manager and his agent and he could of got in a few more plugs for Time Team this way.

What I'm really saying is does a novel really deserve this discussion? It's just a book to be read while your sitting on the toilet or on the train. You're not supposed to believe it word for word...bit like the bible really.

No, but it does promote theological discussion, like the fact that the Holy Grail isn't actually a grail but a bloodline (Jesus allegedly married Mary Magdalene and had a child) or that the grail does exist but is hidden by the Priory of Sion that was a club for famous, clever people who liked codes.

These are things that many people believe and it is an alternate view on the life of Christ and thereafter, its not just because Dan Brown wrote it in a book (there are many books about it). Dan Brown just made it trendy again.
