Weekly Steam News (03/06/05)

There was a very exciting Steam update, just less than twelve hours ago. It talks about some of the more promising mod teams out there but fans of the original Counter-Strike will really love this one:
We're happy that the recently released Counter-Strike: Source maps de_inferno and de_port have been so well received, and along those lines it's time to start talking about what's coming next. This week, we have a couple of screenshots from the remake of the classic Counter-Strike map cs_assault, which is now set in downtown Chicago.

To add to that:
Cliffe @ Valve wrote:Actually, while building Assault for source I've added a few things to make
the map slightly less T-centric. One being another door into the warehouse.
I've also changed some sight lines for the CT sniper deck building. We are in
the process of playtesting this to make sure it's a positive change, while still
retaining the fun of Assault. Feel free to email and tell me what you think of
these changes once the map has been released.
So it should be more balanced as well.

It has not been released yet. Maybe you're confusing the genuine assault with the many clones that are already out there. They are mostly all poor copy's of 1.6 assault or awful remakes loosely based on the original.

Updates to the Steam Client and the Source Engine have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:

Steam Client and Source Engine

* Fixed a number of connection problems to the backend of VAC2 (Valve's anti-cheat technology for game servers). VAC2 currently only runs on servers in the beta group, but will be active for all servers very soon.

that would be it, dman them and make them get vac 2 out, so at least i can whine about better players and luck as opposed to damn hax's!!!

well it look like it will be out next week
As always, restart your Steam client to see the popup.
This week's update concerns the forthcoming CS:S version of Assualt,
coming next week. In addition, a new terrorist model and hints
suggesting they are working towards multiple model choices for CS:S.

+

Next week we're we're planning on releasing the remade version of
cs_assault to Counter-Strike: Source owners. If you don't currently own
CS: Source, you can purchase it through Steam via any of the Half-Life 2
packages. Along with the release of cs_assault, we'll be including a rebuilt
version of the existing Terrorist model. Over the next few months we'll be
expanding the model selections for both teams.

but he new t modle is hunched worse then ahy other, its deforemd and ugly, my 6 yr old cousin has a better concept of preportion.
Good to hear that they are looking at bringing diffreent models back, give that another 3 months.
And since the post of the original thread im impressed to see that its only taken 1 month for them to remake a map, any betts that its bug ridden or a resource hog aka inferno?
