Difficult to see on the net as everyone is trying to watch it, I rekon its al- Qaeda, they have been waiting to strike and tried in the past and failing, so this time they have got through.

That bus is ripped apart, a sad sight to see.

Speaking in Singapore, the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, had this message for the terrorists suspected of carrying out this morning's blasts:

"I know that you personally do not fear to give your own life in exchange for taking others. That is why you are so dangerous. But I know you do fear that you will fail in your long-term objective to destroy our free society. I can show you why you will fail. In the days that follow, look at our airports, look at our seaports and look at our railway stations. And even after your cowardly attack you will see that people from the rest of Britain, people from around the world will arrive in London to become Londoners, to fulfil their dreams and achieve their potential. They choose to come to London as many have come before because they come to be free. They come to live the life they choose, they come to be themselves. They flee you, because you tell them how they should live."

I've seen some horrific scenes today of the events, a lot of dead or near dead persons.

I felt numb after the twin towers (watched that in a hotel lobby with a load of crying Americans). I feel even number now.

Not being "down south" during the IRA campaigns this is my first experiance of something like this so close to home...

I am so glad I am this side of the river... though there are reports of Sutton and East Croydon (stations) being closed due to bomb reports at present.

Hi Folks,

At home after a 2 hour walk. I work in Kings Cross about 3mins from the station. Has been a very scary day, we heard one of the blasts and had a guy come in to use our phones that was on the bus behind the one that went up, reports of people flying through the air.

Thankfully, no-one I know (so far) was injured or involved, and even more thankful that my missus is in portugal with the her mates.

Been a long day and I've already cracked open the hard stuff.

One thing I will say. I was expecting to leave work and see the people of London zombie like in the streets. Instead they were like nothing had happened. Buying kebabs and drinking stella in the streets like a normal day. Heh maybe it had changed, people were actually being civil to each other.

Anyway, take care everyone. I think the UK is going to wake up VERY pissed off tomorrow.

I think the people who apose the invasion of Iraq and Afganistan will turn the other cheek now. And this will fuel our goverment to do more now to track these people down.
The heroic mujahideen have carried out a blessed raid in London.
Blowing up morning comuters to work and school kids on the underground and bus's is not my idea of heroism and it certainley ain't blessed.

The US had their Sep 11th now we have had ours on the 7th of July

I don't think you can compare this to Sept 11th at all. This was far more conventional and (more importantly) EXPECTED by all in our security services.

Firstly, our security is absolutely top class, shown (In my belief) by the fact the T's were forced to use really small bombs (prob due to not being able to get anything larger through our security).

The emergency services were well prepped and saved loads of lives , without it getting much of a mention. (most bomb fatalities are within 2 hours of impact, instantly or through bleed out) - Buses with blood ready were a big saver. I remember the hoo-hah when they practiced 2 years ago - they took a lot of critisim and got accused of propoganda, but how right they were.

Deepest sympathy to all involved (thankfully no one here) but as a whole I think that this has been a sucess story - a bombing of London was bound to happen and to save most people from death, keep people calm, avoid racial retaliation (most places but Leeds) and identify and catch the bombers within a week is amazing.

The only thing those idiots have done is made Al'Q far less credible in the eyes of a nation that was starting to soften to their cause (I mean that in the terms that we have/ had a strong anti america / war movement going).

Galloway is still being a nob head though - personally I agree with his recent comments but to say it within 2 days of the bombings was just callous.

And, however awful, the UK have dealt with attacks of this scope repeatedly during the 'Troubles' in NI. You're probably too young to remember the Troubles at their height Si, it's a hazy memory for me, but I knew a squaddie who survived an attack, but saw one of his mates blown in half.

911 was something beyond the scale the world has seen for terrorism. It's up there with the losses in battles during all out warfare and although I hate to admit it, I thought the US were amazingly restrained in their response to that attack. The continuing 'war' on terrorism though, I'm not convinced by.

To paraphrase the lying big brother scumbag we have in power over here at the moment, we should be tough on the causes of terrorism, because the only way to stop this sort of thing is to stop people wanting to do it.

Another "troubles" story, going a bit off topic but it stuck in my mind.

An uncle of mine was maimed in what was a routine day at work.

The IRA and its supporters would raise flags on telegraph poles etc (this still happens in the orange march) in British controlled areas.

The soilders would have to go and pull them down - knowing that more often than not it is booby trapped. This would result in all kinds of hell, civilians wounded and soilders blown all over the road / houses.

He said "every flag they put up we would take down, you can't be seen to be weak" - I think that still counts today and thankfully, the UK seems committed to rising to the challenge.

Apparently the Tavistock Square Bus bomb was supposed to have been going north on the Northern Line, but because of the other explosions he was forced to take a bus. By lucky coincidence, it exploded right outside the British Medical Association, where a number of highly-trained doctors set up a field casualty unit on the pavement. This must have saved lots of lives.

I split my time working between Epsom and the city. I could easily have been on one of those tubes near Liverpool Street at that time had it been a day later. Makes you think.

And re: Galloway - the fact that he's sometimes right makes him far more infuriating. He's like a Scottish Robert Kilroy-Silk.

seems there have been more but only using the detonators, looks like they've run out of plastic explosives

but not funny really, guess is that it was designed to scare the people and just keep making people believe that they can be attacked at any time.

or alternatively they didn't know that their home made explosives go off once made after a shorter period of time. This is the same for fireworks if not kept in a dry atmosphere.

I for one am glad that this happened as it appears the only people injured are the bombers themselves, which means they should be caught quickly as some will need medical help.
