The name is Alex Lucas and he's 8lb 1oz (or was not woz)

Born on Tuesday at 5.10 am. After a bit of a scary time, since 7.30 Saturday night, when the missus was induced. Got to a point where she was physically exhausted and her womb was packing in, so had to have a vonteuse delivery. Not very pretty at the sharp end I can tell you. But he came into the world with exactly the look he had above and thats scary. They say that some have the look of being here before and thats about right. But they are both blooming. He doesn't cry (unless he's naked) but has an odd fascination with the world around him. I've never seen a baby so alert. You can put that down to being a very proud Dad, of both the baby and the wife....or you can put it down to a very worrying thought that I've seen this look in The Omen :)

Nothing is more special that being there at the birth of your kid - blood everywhere, shit on the blanket, screaming and a complete feeling of inadequacy.

In fact, exactly the same as the conception.

Congratulations Mr Spoons. Don't forget for the next 2 weeks you have to do everything for your wife and your little boy, and then you can leave them alone for 5 years until he starts playing football :)

Congratulations! There's an old thread hereabouts somewhere with some sage advice on it....

I was actually turfed out of the theatre during the birth of my first (Oliver).
I can tell you that the following half hour or so, while I waited outside was one of the worst times of my life. It was exactly like the scene in 'She's Having a Baby' - the bit with the Kate Bush song "This Woman's Work", which I still have a hard time listening to.
What compounded it was that I was brought my kid after the half hour, but the nurse who brought him out didn't know how my wife was, and left me worrying for another 20-40 minutes. So - I sat there watching his eyes open for the first time, and giving him his first feed, but not actually caring because I was worried stiff that something horrible had gone wrong with the c-section and my wife was in serious trouble. Bittersweet moments indeed.

I will say though, that having kids is the most rewarding thing you'll ever do (well, I've never managed to get Kelly Brooke in the sack, so ymmv), and ignore the martyr parents (me) who moan all the time about lack of sleep etc :D

Erm.....sorry, back into persona : you need to cross your legs just so in order to have him on your lap while playing CS...etc...
This sig gratuitously contains the word 'gratuitously'
