calculatorif you earn above £97 a week (the 'earnings threshold') and up to £645 per week you pay 11 per cent of this amount as 'Class 1' NICs
you also pay one per cent of earnings above £645 a week as Class 1 NICs
you will pay a lower amount as an employee if you are a member of your employer's contracted out pension scheme

That's almost as good as the kangaroo one you sent the other day!
As far as NI goes, don't talk to me about NI.
I sold some share options the other month and was told I'd have to pay 40% tax on them...the stupid bint forgot to mention that I also had to pay employees AND employers NI on them too. Which was another 12.8%.
Nice.
It's really hard to work out what you actually owe, because some of it seems to be calculated before tax, and some after. It mystified me, but I think they want more than I have left from the share profits. Ho hum.
