Well guys, after 32 years of being a british citizen, I am flying the coop as it were and emigrating to the land of Oz. The house has just gone on the market, the visa application is processing, and hopefully within the year, I shall be the first to break in the new year.

We had a 3 week holiday down under to visit some friends of Claires, who emigrated last year. Within days I had the bug. A week later a job offer. Compared to what is happening over here, well all I can say is good luck.

Will still be around whilst things go through, (bob wii chipping) ;) but the sooner the better for me.

Loved it all!

heh, I wish you well Jamie and am also going to Oz, just for a year though.

It's all positives and negatives, and you'll be surprised at what you miss (not necessarily meaning you'll pine for it). Oz sarcasm can get annoying!

Im hoping it will be the most of my worries. Would be great when I am over there to meet up. It shall be the furthest ever DVF meet, by about 23001 miles. At a a guess. You would be welcome when we settle in, obviously when we are there. Dont lose contact, esp after you keep losing at Mario.

well I fly into Darwin on 6th June - from there I'll just go around. Don't worry about house, forget it - I'll be in backpacker mode and want to stay in a hostel ;)

I've just got back from working in the USA for 2 1/2 months and it's made me realise what a dump the UK really can be.

heh, Jamie, it made me smile when you said Christmas - that's a hell of a time to choose to move - it will be hotter than hell at that time. Can't you choose something where you wont possibly die when moving?

Its always been an ambition of mine to have a shrimp on the barbie on Christmas day. Heres hoping for this year.
I just came back from a few weeks over there, suffering through a heatwave. it hit 40 in adelaide a few days I was there, jees thats was blistering hot, and I loved it. Just had an email from some friends over there who we stayed with. Its cooled right down now, only 27c. Dont know how I will cope with that 'cold' hehe.

aye its winter now. That's why I'm leaving now, I need a little time to get aclimitised (it takes up to and past 2 weeks apparantly, eat lots of salt as you lose too much through our limey sweat)

I've travelled a bit, but despite the current bunch of neo-nazis in power, I always miss Blighty.
Hopefully once America goes down the economic toilet we can get back to deciding our own future again.

Wow, well played Jamie. I know two guys I work with are moving over there and one has already gone!!

Clair is a hairdresser and so they are crying out for her to move over there but moving the kids is a pain for me.

I would love to do it though, I just couldnt leave my family behind :(

I'm leaving for Oz (Darwin) today and will be around your end in say, December to APril (bit sketchy).

DONT worry about having to put us up or anything, cos that isn't expected - but please do try meet up to have a beer! It will be funny that we finally do meet, on the other side of the world.
