AS_OFFICESTORM2 - beta version available now

(I'll shift this to the Mapping forum later, but I know people don't look in there much :p )

I've finished a beta version of as_officestorm2 if anyone would like a look (and we'll play it tonight hopefully).

Any comments and bug reports would be much appreciated. One or two problems I know of already (like the fountain's water direction and the radioactive rat :D ). Problems involving the sound I'd be particularly interested in since I don't play with sound, and also the textures (which are mostly mine :p ) There's also a fair amount of detail I'd like to add here and there, but will or will not depending on how the map plays in terms of lag.... < crosses fingers >

If you've played the first Officestorm then you know what to do! Both teams start on the floor above the computer console that needs locating and activating in order to unlock the main elevator (VIP escape point).

Just had a quick run around. Nice looking map, but with a few changes that can be made.

This area was a bitch to get out of I found. Maybe lower the railing slightly?

And they seem to not get much work done in that office but browse the DVF webby :nuts:

Yes, I had it working a few minutes ago :? Did you use as_officestorm2_beta? That might be it :)

I know what you mean... And I might do, BUT... the ledge was quite a big advantage in the first map (I thought) and in this one it's got a direct LOS on the escape point but can't be immediately shot at from CTs coming from the computer, which is why I don't have much sympathy for people who are up there :D It is possible to get down without losing health (and not using the rope) btw ;) I keep it in mind though, thanks.

Heh, people made the same complaint in the first one :D I'll stick a board or something over there for the final - as you might notice, that whole upstairs area was fairly rushed :o

i went to get pens and i got a chicken....... how can i write death threats to the vip with a chicken?????

btw d_w the invis wall is the best way to break up solid areas with something different. And as sput said it's not finished and that may well change... i hope to see it full of boxes and a woz!

You could put a door round the corner and a sign above it saying no entry. Just make it obvious you aren't supposed to go down there.

great map.

i was going to ask for a lightswitch for the main office area, but since we have a pen dispenser that dispenses chickens, I feel its unfair to ask for anything else :)

i like the map on the table in T spawn ;)

also i noticed an untextured part of the lift shaft (the ceiling) which is clearly visible because I had bought NV ;)

other than that i liked it :thumbs: the plants create great cover :D

So I hung around last night from 18:00 to 20:00, waiting for the map to become available.

Decided to watch Band of Brothers - come back on at 22:00 and find out I have missed it ... I hate you all.

Other bugs we found were getting stuck in the VIP elevator as CT's before they were opened (you can get to it through the hidden grating in the vent and the VIP can just drop down there) and the glass table in the elevator room where you drop out the vent as a CT going straight ahead. I even jumped for the ropes at CT spawn and flew right past them once, teach me to be more careful :nuts:

Thanks for the kind comments :) I really enjoy about 5% of the time I spend mapping, but when people appreciate the work that's gone in, it makes the other 95% more than worthwhile too :)

I'll work on the various changes/additions/fixes that can be made and hopefully have a final version ready fairly soon.

I've gone and started fiddling with an idea or two for a new map already :o (Working title as_lick, an outdoor/indoor map kind of like something between de_tain2, es_jail, de_tire, de_volare, de_predator and es_woods, but with more ass :nuts: ) Plus I'll probably have a go at making that map for Oliver Beresford on the motherforums... As frustrated as I get with it all I can't seem to stop :nuts:

You're more than welcome to :D Anyone's always welcome to do what they want with em (except modify or nick things :p ) - it's always nice to search for a map when I'm bored and see it in some mapcycle on some German server or something :)
